Research Interests
Marietta Psarros is an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester majoring in Chemical Engineering. Prior to joining the IRES CRYSTAL Dynamics Program, she gained research experience in computational fluid dynamics and developed a strong interest in the biotechnological applications of chemical engineering.
During the summer of 2026, Marietta is based at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where she is conducting research under the mentorship of Michael Ruggiero and Luca Catalano. Through the program, she hopes to deepen her understanding of crystal characterization methods, strengthen her chemistry laboratory skills, and gain experience working in an international research environment.
Marietta is particularly interested in the intersection of chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, and advanced materials. Following her undergraduate studies, she plans to pursue graduate education and a career in pharmaceutical research and development.
Outside of the laboratory, Marietta enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She is excited to explore Italy while contributing to collaborative research on crystal dynamics and molecular materials.
